OUR STORY
La Garenne is an old fortified farm dating back to the 16th Century, situated amongst vineyards and sunflower fields in a small hamlet in Charente Maritime, Western France. The perfect place for those who want to relax and enjoy rural France.
We bought La Garenne in 2006. Since that we have worked hard to renovate all 6 gites and our family into comfortable and modern living but retaining the charming French style we love so much with beautiful original beams and exposed Charentaise stone walls.
La Garenne is our home and where our children have grown up so to us it is not just a business but a family life style that we are proud to share with our guests.
We are a sporty and active family so the quiet rolling country lanes and many forests that surrounds La Garenne appealed to us.

Self catering gites in France - Our Gites...
To offer you all the comforts you would expect on holiday each Gite is equipped with:
- Microwave
- Flat screen tv
- Dishwasher
- Fridge, freezer, hob and oven
- Caffeterie or coffee machine
- Communal washing room
- Essential food store room. ( honesty box)
- Garden furniture, parasol and BBQ
- All the gites benefit from a private terrace with BBQ for outdoor eating and relaxation from where parents can supervise the children while they play in the garden. Some gites even have two terraces, offering private gardens at the back or side of the longere, with beautiful views to open farmland.
We also provide free of charge
- Travel cot with linen and high chair
- Stairgates and changing mat
- Potty and toddler step
- Steriliser and hand blender
- Plastic cups, cutlery etc
To make your travel even easier we provide
- Bedlinen
- Tea towels and kitchen cloth.
- Soap, dishwasher tablets (4) and toilet rolls (2)
- Cleaning products
- Welcome basket
